History of Lake Toba Formation According to Folklore. As we all know, Lake Toba has a history with various versions. This lake is a volcanic lake located in the province of North Sumatra with its predicate as the largest lake in Southeast Asia. The local community admits that Lake Toba holds its own legend, where the story is believed to be the beginning of the formation and history of Lake Toba.
